The Calhoun Gordon Arts Council is our county's only organization dedicated to cultural enrichment for all citizens. Our mission is to bring the arts to the entire community and to honor the legacy of Roland Hayes.
To signify our goal of serving the entire community, we are located in the heart of downtown Calhoun.
The Arts Council produces, presents, and promotes artistic, musical, and theatrical programs, and provides opportunities for hundreds of students and adults to perform and exhibit their works. We serve a diverse population, offering many free programs and exhibits. Each week, 300 students receive instructions in dance, music, and visual arts through Instructional Programs at The Harris Arts Center. Annually, 5000 local students participate in Pre-School Pops, Arts in the Schools, Youth Chorus, Summer Camps, and Cultural Outreach Programs. Because of programs and performances at The Harris Arts Center, people of all ages and abilities can celebrate and encourage their own creativity and self-expression, gaining new visions of what they can do and become. Lives are enriched, broadened, and forever changed through The Harris Arts Center.
To continue fulfilling our mission, we completed the construction of the Milton M. Ratner Performing Arts Center as of January, 2004. The addition includes an art gallery expansion, a 200-seat theater, a conference room/ classroom, and offices.
Gifts of any size are appreciated and needed. We also offer permanent recognition levels. For more information, call 706-629-2599 or fill out the following info sheet and email to graycgarts@bellsouth.net
